A blessing in disguise

How did the brothers of Joseph suffer by selling him to Egypt? I really think they didn't suffer. In fact, they benefited later unknowingly from this. He went ahead of them to ensure they had abundance in times of lack. It was also part of the fulfillment of what God had said to Abraham—that his inheritance would go into captivity for 400 years. It was a way to get to Egypt. Sometimes we hate people for what they made us go through. Many times, it's quite reasonable and justifiable to do so, but give a thought to this: What if this was the only way to get us to where God wants us to be? Maybe we should take in the lessons and move on, glorifying God. I love what Joseph says to his brothers in Egypt—that it was God who made it happen as it did for their sake. Joshua Selman says that at times love separates us from fulfilling our purposes in life. What would have happened to the Israelites had Joseph not been sold to Egypt? Crazy, right?
